Online Christian counselor degree programs generally give training in theory and practice of counseling and are designed for those seeking career opportunities in mental health agencies, hospital programs, private practices, church-related counseling centers, and other public and private facilities. Through this program students will learn the skills needed to succeed in this field. All of the courses are focused on the major. This allows students to maximize their learning in the core courses and succeed in their educational and career goals.
Students begin with general psychology and Christian counseling. They then pick one of two specialty tracks. In the higher division courses students study counseling theory, marriage counseling, child and adolescent counseling, and adult development counseling.
Lastly, as students enter the Master degree level, they study death and dying, substance abuse counseling, ethics and counseling law, world religions and then complete a Master level thesis.
